Connie Jean (Wertz) McCarty

Heaven gained an Angel, Connie Jean McCarty, 77 of Hughesville, loving aunt and friend to all, when she passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2022 .

Connie was born on December 29, 1944 in Montgomery, to the late Herman G. and Dorothy B. (Neufer) Wertz.  Connie grew up in a large family where she was influenced to be one of the most loving and compassionate souls. On July 2, 1966, Connie married the love of her life, Stanley L. McCarty, sharing 30 wonderful years until his passing in 1996.  A modern-day nightingale, she gave her whole heart in saving others. 

She was a member of Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church.  Connie worked as a bookkeeper for Center State Amesite.

She is survived by her loving fur baby Abby, God-son Matthew Neidig, and Pam Shady, Jill Yocum, JoAnn Moore, W. James Mattern Jr. , Mitch, Mike, Tom, Brian, and Bobby Wertz and many nieces and nephews. 

Along with her parents and husband she is pre-deceased by her siblings Robert, E Blaine, Bernard, Kenneth, and Wayne Wertz, Betty Mattern, and Sandra Neidig, and four nephews. 

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, Nov. 25, at Hughesville Funeral Home & Cremation Svc Inc, 5069 Route 220 Hwy, Hughesville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with her pastor, Pastor Tammy Seyler, officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.

Her legacy will be forever alive in the hearts and minds of everyone she had helped and came in contact with.  In helping to keep her shining spirit alive, any monetary donations should be made in her name to any animal rescue or Feed A Friend program of your choice.
