Ann Pfleegor Obituary

Ann Clinger Pfleegor died peacefully in her home surrounded by family, friends and her dog Izzy on March 8, 2024.

Ann was born on November 28, 1936, the second of five daughters born to Ralph S. Clinger and Elizabeth M. Clinger.

Ann graduated from Williamsport High School in 1954, got her nursing degree at Bryn Mawr School of Nursing in 1957, and her Bachelor of Science degree from Lycoming College in 1959.  She was a school nurse in Williamsport from 1959-1962. She taught nursing at the Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio from 1962-64. In 1967 she graduated from the University of Toledo with a Masters in Psychology.

She taught nursing at the Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio from 1962-64 and was a clinical instructor at the Flower Hospital School in Toledo from 1966-1969. In 1969 she returned to the Williamsport area where she stayed for the rest of her life. From 1969 to 1993 she was employed as a school nurse for Muncy, PA.

Ann loved her job as a school nurse most of all because she loved working with people of all ages.  She made lifelong friends with many of the people she got to know.  She was known to take off on her own with her dogs for the wilds of PA, NY or Canada where she camped and fished. As much as she enjoyed her solitude, she also loved people gathering at her home. She generously shared her large property with family, friends and neighbors.  She took her nieces, friends and dogs on adventurous summer vacations affectionately known to them as “Camp Ann”.

Appreciating and creating art was a big part of Ann’s life.  She enjoyed painting in watercolors and oils. After she retired she and her friend Harriet Koch made and sold beautiful stained glass lamps. We are as grateful for the glow of her lamps as we are her for the warm light she has shed on our lives.

She is predeceased by her parents “Toot and Did” and her sister Marion (Putt) Fisher.  She is survived by her sisters Susan Mayer (Boston), Mary Herzenberg (S. Williamsport, PA), and Alice Fleer (Vermont), and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Ann suggests people plant a tree of their choice or lend a helping hand.
