Dennis J. "Denny" Swimley

Dennis J. "Denny" Swimley, 69, of Muncy, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at The Gatehouse, Williamsport.

Born December 23, 1954 in Wellsboro, he was the son of the late Stanley and Ava (Fay) Swimley.  On February 14, 1987 he married the former Karen E. Wertman and they have celebrated 37 years of marriage.

He was a 1972 graduate of Cowanesque Valley High School and served in the US Air Force and US Army. He was employed with law enforcement all his working years.

Denny was a member of Highland Lake Sportsman's Association and enjoyed being outdoors, especially riding his Harley motorcycle or hunting.  He was always there to help anyone in anyway he could.  Denny cherished all the times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Surviving besides his wife, Karen Swimley, at home, is a daughter, Jennifer L. Neidig and her husband Matthew, and a son, Michael D. Hilner and his wife Megan, all of Hughesville; four grandchildren: Dante Bair, Chaz Neidig, Jackson Olson, and Eve Breon; a brother, Timothy Swimley and his wife Pamela of Westfield; a niece, three nephews, and his canine companion Tippi.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life from 6 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Hughesville Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, Inc., 5069 Route 220 Highway, Hughesville.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to The Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
