Edward Vibert Obituary

Edward J. Vibert of Clarkstown, 87, passed away May 23, 2023 at WeCare Loyalsock, Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Edward was born Sept. 17, 1935 in Tupper Lake, NY. He was the son of the late Alvin and Julia (Girard) Vibert. On May 7, 1960, Edward married Claire Olson, and recently celebrated 63 years of devoted marriage.

Edward was a graduate of the Williamsport Technical Institute in 1958 and retired from GTE Sylvania in Williamsport, after a long career as a Technical Associate.  Throughout his years at GTE Sylvania, he was the inventor listed on many patents including a GFCI electrical receptacle as well as one of the developers of the video game system Intellivision.

He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, metal detecting, searching for good deals at flea markets and yard sales, spending time with his family, metal working and never met a repair he could not fix. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to talk about his latest projects. He enjoyed CB radios, and Snowbird was his handle in his younger years. He also was fond of nature, particularly rocks, minerals, and birdwatching with chickadees being a favorite.

He was very proud of his home state of New York and spoke frequently about upstate New York snowstorms and his time helping to build the bobsled for the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Claire are two daughters Karen Vibert-Kennedy (Dave) of Hughesville and Brenda Miller (Ken) of Dushore; three grandchildren Tyler Kennedy of Hughesville; Anastasia Miller of Dushore and Nicholas (Casey) Miller of Muncy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters, Hazel, Mabel, Frances and Mary and two brothers Edmond and Morris.

In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Edward’s name may be directed to Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, Pa. 17756.
