James L. Shoemaker, 77, formerly of Hughesville, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at home.
Born April 17, 1948 in Hughesville, he was a son of the late William T. and Ann Mae (Ryder) Shoemaker. On January 3, 1973 he married the former Dottie L. Eisenhower and together they have celebrated 52 years of marriage.
James was a 1966 graduate of Hughesville High School. He worked for Sylvania for 10 years, spent 17 years at the American Rescue Workers. He also worked and skied at the slope near Huntersville.
In addition to his wife, Dottie of Montoursville, he is survived by a son, James Shoemaker, Jr., of Montoursville; two daughters, Michelle Butler and her husband, Ron, of Williamsport, and Lisa Shoemaker, of South Williamsport; one grandchild; and two sisters, Deborah Jacobs, of Hughesville, and Nancy Poust, of Unityville.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Butler; sister, Bonnie Jacobs; and two brothers, Wayne Shoemaker and Steve Shoemaker.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
