John Jacob Weidler, 83, of Hughesville, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024 peacefully at the Gatehouse with his loving wife and children by his side.
Born October 22, 1940 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Fuller) Weidler. On April 5, 1997 he married the former Caroline Page Fox and they have celebrated 27 years of marriage.
He was a 1957 graduate of Williamsport Area High School while attending Williamsport Area Community College where he studied aviation mechanics and enlisted in the US Air Force where he served a tour in Thule, Greenland. He was honorably discharged as an E3. Following his military service, he worked for Vidmar, and later accepted a position with PP&L, Montoursville where he worked until retiring.
He was a lifetime member of the Muncy American Legion and a loyal member of the Moose Lodge 866, Muncy, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving besides his wife, Caroline Weidler at home, is a son, Shannon L. Weidler and his wife Cathy of Williamsport; two daughters Cindy Weidler of Montoursville and Yvette Rene'e Weidler and Gene Jarrett of Watsontown; a step-son, Shawn Fox and his wife Grace of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and his canine companion, Billie who was always right by his side. Also surviving is his blended family of siblings: Charles Weidler of Montoursville and David Weidler of Williamsport; four sisters: Sandy "Gina" Clemens and her husband Tom of Williamsport, Barb Knecht and her husband Kenny of Williamsport, Bev McNett and her husband Francie of Roaring Branch, and Joyce Livingston of Phoenix, AZ.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a daughter, Monique Weidler; two sisters: Nancy Hockman and Karen Tawney; and a brother, Jeff Weidler.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life from 11:00 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Hughesville Funeral Home and Cremation Svc. Inc., 5069 Route 220 Highway, Hughesville. Burial with full military honors by combined veterans' organizations will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Following the burial everyone is invited back to the Muncy Valley Moose Lodge 866, for a time of fellowship.
