Noel R. Stein, 87, of Laporte, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at his home.
Born July 24, 1935 in Ashland, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Miller) Stein. On September 10, 1960 he married the former Judy Clark and together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Noel was a 1953 graduate of Bristol High School and served honorably in the US Army. He worked at New York Ship, in Philadelphia and at Foster Wheeler in Clinton, NJ , from where he retired in 2000. Noel was a certified EMSCO Ambulance driver, driving for Laporte Volunteer Fire Company.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Dushore. He was an avid reader and furniture maker. Noel enjoyed watching and supporting his beloved Philadelphia Phillies.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his three sons: John Stein and his wife Mary, Thomas Stein and his wife Barbara, and Michael Stein, all of Colorado; three grandchildren: Ashley, Amanda, and Victoria Stein; one sister: Honora McNulty of Alaska, and a niece: Nadine (Stein) Bosley.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Stein and a niece, Marie (Stein) Sheehan.
There will be a viewing held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Hughesville Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 5069 Route 220 Hwy, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Thomas Major, officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Laporte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Laporte Fire Company, P.O. Box 31, Laporte, PA 18626.
