Robert J. Cox

Robert J. Cox, 71, of Muncy Valley, formerly of the Towanda area, passed away at home Friday, May 10, 2024.

Born July 6, 1952 in Muncy Valley, he was the son of the late John G. and Marguerite (Speary) Cox.  On October 31, 1971 he married the former Judy A. Minier and they have celebrated 52 years of marriage.

He was a 1970 graduate of Sullivan County High School and worked at Dupont for over 40 years until his retirement in 2010.

Bob was a social member of the Sonestown American Legion, and the Muncy Valley VFW.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the Kellogg Mountain/Monroeton Rod and Gun Club of Monroeton.  He enjoyed riding around on his side-by-side to visit with friends and neighbors and working on his property.   A very social person, he would often strike up a conversation with anyone. Bob always had an open door policy and loved having a porch full of friends and family surrounding him. He always said that his homestead was "a little slice of heaven."

Surviving besides his wife, Judy Cox, are two sons: Dr. John R. Cox and his wife Stacie of Towanda and Christopher R. Cox of Muncy Valley; two grandchildren: Brayden A. and Madelyn E. Cox; two brothers: Daniel L. Cox of Muncy Valley and Dennis L. Cox and his wife Naomi of Rome, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews, many special friends, and his beloved dogs.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers: Walter A. and Charles David Cox.

Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
