Warren H. Westman, Jr. Obituary
Warren Harding Westman, Jr., 77, of Hughesville, PA, passed away on April 29, 2026, at his home after a long, courageous battle with ALS.
Born on March 31, 1949, in Bryn Mawr, PA, Warren was the beloved son of Warren H. Westman, Sr. and Ellen (Ballent). He graduated from Marple Newtown Senior High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1969, Warren returned home to marry his ‘love’ as he called her, Patricia (Johnson), beginning their marriage and 57 year love story.
Warren worked for and eventually owned the family business, Warren H. Westman Landscaping, dedicating 50 years to his craft. He was known for his love of great music and antique cars, especially 1955 - 1957 Chevrolets. As a classic car collector, he will be remembered for his vast knowledge and keen eye for obscure details. Warren enjoyed car shows, antiquing, and auctions. He had an uncanny ability to recognize the value of any antique. Well known on the circuit, he found great joy in wheeling and dealing, the thrill of a sale, and meeting new people along the way.
A devoted Christian and caring man, Warren was a father-like figure to many of his children’s friends and to this day still remains very dear to them. He was an avid Mount Carmel football fan, attending games with his uncle religiously for over four decades. From 1981 until his retirement and relocation to Lycoming County, Warren was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Broomall, PA. He volunteered at festivals, assisted with visitation, drove shut-ins to and from church, and spent countless hours participating with the youth group and annual retreats.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Warren was an active member of the American Legion VanDiver - Moylan Post 355, 9th District, where he served as commander multiple times. He strongly encouraged fellow veterans to join their local American Legion.
After relocating to Hughesville, Warren actively attended Pleasant View Wesleyan Church in Muncy, PA. He cherished the fellowship of his church community and especially enjoyed participating in its many annual events. In retirement, he volunteered with DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Susquehanna Valley #47, driving veterans between the Williamsport VA and Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. Above all, Warren will be remembered for his life of service and deep love for his family.
Warren is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters Tricia (Stephen) Dyal, Stacey (Rob) Palandro, and Erin (Kevin) Ball, and son Jon (Jen) Westman. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as Pap, Pappy and the “The Papanator”; as well as his brothers Richard and William Westman, and his sister Barbara Shalles. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother Dawn Westman, and sister Nedra Tropea.
The family wishes to thank the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Hershey ALS Clinic, Comfort Keepers caregivers, and Compassus Hospice for their compassion and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VanDiver - Moylan American Legion Post 355, P.O. Box 57, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
Though deeply missed, Warren’s love and legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of the Lord.’” Matthew 25:23
